PLANS FOR DIGITAL OUTPUT

Our Executive committee and Technical sub committee have been busy assessing the role of new technology in the future of the charity. At this point, it is imperative that we point out that we wish to accommodate the needs of all of our listeners whether using audio tapes or more modern equipment. Sadly, the old workhorse, the audio tape is in its old age and we do not want to be caught out by not having replacements available.

We have decided to proceed in two stages -

Stage 1

A training phase covering the use of computers to digitally record the news and magazines alongside the normal cassette recording process.  Written training procedures have been issued and it is anticipated that this phase will take about six months.

Stage 2

The process of producing and duplicating memory sticks using the MP3 format is still under development.  Our target is to be issuing memory sticks to our listeners within the next twelve months.

It is hoped that all listeners who wish to trial the new technology will be offered a "Boom Box" (similar to the one shown above right) TOTALLY FREE, and will then receive a USB memory stick each week which contains the audio content.
